CRDscout ("we", "us", "our") operates the website and mobile application at crdscout.com (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Service. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account data

When you register, we collect your email address and a password (stored as a one-way hash). We may also store your display name and role (e.g. user, admin, partner) on your profile.

2.2 Usage data

We log searches you perform (stock searches, price searches, card show searches), products you add to your collection, alerts and reminders you create, and retailers you favourite. This data is used to provide and improve the Service and to display personalised content.

2.3 Device and browsing data

We automatically collect your IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited. This information is used for security, analytics, and service reliability.

2.4 Push notifications (optional)

If you enable push notifications on the mobile app, we may send you notifications about price alerts, stock alerts, and release reminders you have created. Push notifications require your explicit permission and can be disabled at any time in your device settings. We do not use push notifications for advertising.

2.5 Photos (optional)

If you use the Price Guide or Grade Estimate camera features, photos you capture are sent to our AI provider for analysis. These photos are not publicly associated with your account and are processed solely to return the estimate result.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you logged in, remember your preferences (such as language and dark-mode settings), and measure traffic. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features of the Service may not function correctly.

4. Google AdSense & Third-Party Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on the Service. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to our site and/or other sites on the internet.
  • You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • You may also opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

Third-party vendors and ad networks may also use cookies to serve advertisements. We do not control these third-party cookies and their use is subject to the respective providers' privacy policies.

  • To provide and maintain the Service, including search results, alerts, and collection tracking.
  • To send you email notifications you have explicitly requested (price alerts, stock alerts, release reminders).

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with:

  • Service providers — hosting, payment processing (Stripe / Base44 Payments), and email delivery, who process data on our behalf under strict contractual obligations.
  • Advertising partners — Google AdSense, as described above.
  • Legal authorities — where required by law or to protect our rights and safety.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account at any time, after which we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

7a. Request Account & Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time, using either of the following methods:

  • Self-service (instant): Open the app, go to Account → Delete account, and confirm. Your account, collection, alerts, and saved searches are permanently removed and any active subscription is cancelled immediately.
  • By email: Send a deletion request to support@crdscout.comwith the subject line "Account and Data Deletion Request" from the email address registered to your account. We will process your request and remove your personal data within 30 days.

Upon deletion, we erase your account credentials, profile, collection items, saved searches, alerts, and reminders. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data (e.g. search popularity counts) is retained as it can no longer be linked to you.

8. Your Rights (UK GDPR / GDPR)

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectify inaccurate data.
  • Erasure ("right to be forgotten").
  • Restrict or object to processing.
  • Data portability.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting processing already carried out).

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted password hashing, secure session tokens, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside the UK/EU (including the United States). Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent protections.
